Tracking & Analytics
Yes. QR Insights gives you your first 30 days of QR code scan tracking completely free. You get full access to all analytics features — scan counts, geographic data, device type breakdowns, and AI-powered insights — with no feature restrictions during the trial. After 30 days it's just £6.99/month.
From each QR code scan you can track:
- Total scan count and unique scan count
- Scan date and time
- Geographic location — city and country level
- Device type — iOS, Android, or desktop
- Scan trends over custom time periods (1 week to 1 year)
No — and this is intentional. QR Insights collects only anonymised aggregate data. We do not track or store personal information about the individuals scanning your codes. You can see totals, locations (city/country level), device types, and timing — but not who any specific person is. This design is both a privacy feature and a core part of our UK GDPR compliance.
Dynamic QR codes work by routing scans through a tracking server before redirecting to your destination URL. When someone scans your QR code, the request hits our server, which logs the scan metadata (timestamp, general location, device type) and then redirects the user to your chosen URL. The whole process takes milliseconds — the user simply arrives at your destination as normal and never sees the tracking layer.
To track QR code traffic in GA4, add UTM parameters to your destination URL before creating the QR code. For example:
https://yoursite.com/?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=summer2026. When someone scans the code and visits your page, GA4 will record the session with your campaign parameters. QR Insights provides its own scan-level analytics (total scans, device types, geography) which complement the website behaviour data in GA4.
QR Codes
Static QR codes encode data directly into the code pattern. The destination URL is fixed — you cannot change it after printing, and scanning cannot be tracked. They're suitable for simple use cases where tracking doesn't matter.

Yes. You can create multiple QR codes from a single QR Insights account. Each code has its own analytics dashboard. Each code has its own subscription at £6.99/month (first month free each). You can cancel individual codes independently without affecting others.
GDPR & Privacy
Yes, when done correctly — and QR Insights is designed specifically for GDPR compliance. We collect only anonymised aggregate scan data. We do not store personal information about any individual scanner, we do not store IP addresses, and we do not place tracking cookies on scanners' devices without consent. This makes QR Insights safe to use in regulated sectors including healthcare and education.
With QR Insights, no. Because we collect only anonymised aggregate data (not personal data) and do not set cookies on the scanner's device, there is no requirement for a cookie consent banner in connection with our tracking. However, if your destination website sets its own cookies, that site's consent requirements apply separately.
Pricing & Billing

Yes. You can cancel any QR code subscription at any time from your dashboard. There are no contracts, no lock-in periods, and no cancellation fees. If you cancel during the free trial, you will not be charged anything.
